Chetan Dineshbhai Thakor (Aravalli, Gujarat)

Family Background:

Chetan Thakor, age 22 belongs to Faredi village of Modasa Taluka, Aravalli district, Gujarat. He completed his graduation and was earning his living by pursuing his hobby of singing by working with a local band group. Considering his work, the source of income is extremely uncertain.

They are a family of 11 people along with his wife and 2 children and earning members are only 3 including him. His brother is working with Gramshakti Microfinance whereas, the father earns from farming. Hence, brother’s income is the only consistent one. Being a father of 2 children and irregular income gets very frustrating and depressing for him.

Harshad Gelat is a 21 years old enthusiastic man aims to support his family and educate his younger brothers. He couldn’t pursue further studies after 12th due to financial instability in family. They are a family of 7 members including his parents and brothers. His father was the only earning member in the family through farming and he too joined him later for more income.

Now, his brothers are studying well and one of them is pursuing ITI in Gandhinagar.

He has this inner instinct for further studies which he has achieved with a motive to provide a happy and healthy life with family.

The family income through farming was around 75000 per annum and with Harshad’s employment the income has increased substantially.

Family Background:

Payal Suvera is a 22 years old hailing from a small village Naranpur of Meghraj block, Aravalli district, Gujarat. Her family consist of 8 members which includes parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters; one sister is married and so she stays with her husband and in-laws. She has completed her 12th Standard and now pursuing her graduation from HNG University whereas other siblings are studying in school.

Her father is a School Teacher and mother is a Home Maker, but since they come from a small village with hardly population of 700 people, girls are not allowed to go out much and are confined to the 4 walls of the house. But Payal is lucky enough that her father has continued her education. She is a person with clarity in her vision and goal of life.

The per annum income of the family was 1.80 Lakhs but had more dependent members of the family.

After the DDU-GKY training she is happy to walk towards the path of financial independence. She has made her parents proud with her efforts to overcome all the hurdles on her path to success.

Shilpi Foundation’s persuasion to complete the course and take up employment has helped her.

Family Background:

Yogesh is a graduate in Arts. He comes from a small village Undra of Pindwara block in Sirohi district. Yogesh is the only child of the family and is brought up by his mother as father passed away when he was very young. His mother did tailoring work to make the two ends meet and educated his son. He was firm and enthusiastic to get a respectable job and support her mother financially.
